Relat – Laticínios Renner S.A. is a company of Renner Herrmann S.A. Group operating in the processing of whey. It is strategically located in the Alto Uruguai region, in the city of Estação, at Rio Grande do Sul state, in Brazil. It is located near many cheese producers, which are the company’s biggest suppliers of raw materials.
Relat processes the liquid milk whey, transforming it into powder. This product is used in the manufacture of food items for human and animal consumption. It is largely utilized in the baking industry, in cookies, bread, and pastas. Whey powder is also used in ice creams, chocolates, isotonic drinks, milk beverages, and modified milk products. For animal consumption, its use is important in the manufacture of animal feed.
Relat’s factory processes approximately 1.2 million liters of milk whey per day, from the residue created in the production of mozzarella cheese and queijo prato (a Brazilian soft cheese), the so-called sweet whey.
Relat is the largest producer of whey powder in the south of Brazil.
In April 2008, Renner Herrmann S.A. announced a new investment, this time in the dairy industry. And so Relat – Laticínios Renner S.A. was founded. It is a company that processes the liquid milk whey, a by-product of the manufacture of cheese, turning it into powder and thus adding value to the product.
With an investment of approximately R$ 50 millions, the factory was opened on October 19, 2010. The building has a constructed area of more than 5,000 m², in a plot that has an area of approximately 150,000 m².
The opening of the factory brought prosperity to the region and generated 200 direct and indirect jobs.
